Rooted in Truth. Carried by Grace. Grit for the Walk.

Grace & Grit.life wasn't something I set out to build. It grew out of real life, faith, family, ministry, leadership, loss, laughter, hard seasons, ordinary days, and a God who kept proving faithful through all of it.  This isn't about becoming tougher. It's about learning what it looks like to receive grace, stand in truth, and keep walking faithfully when life doesn't follow the plan.

Grace

Grace Given

Grace is God's unearned favor, freely given through Jesus. It is not initiated by human effort, or earned by works, or sustained by our strength.  Biblically, grace is both God's gift and God's power at work in us.

Grace saves us, and grace sustains us. It meets us in weakness and supplies what we do not have on our own.

Grace does not end at forgiveness; grace continues to work in us.

Grace is not permission to stay comfortable or step away when things get hard. Grace is the strength God supplies when ours runs out. It is God meeting me in weakness and sustaining obedience I could not hold on to by myself.

Grace meets me in the waiting, in the stretching, and in the behind the scenes work. It teaches us to depend instead of run.

Grace carries me through growth that feels slow, obedience that feels costly, and seasons where faith requires endurance.

Grace is not comfort; grace is sustaining power.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Grace lived out is not me trying harder. It is responding to the way God keeps meeting me.

Graced lived out looks like:

  • Letting go of control when I want to manage everything myself
  • extending patience at home when everyone is tired and grace feels thin
  • Continuing to serve faithfully when ministry feels heavy
  • trusting God's timing and plan
  • Staying faithful when the season is long and the work feels heavy
  • remembering that transformation is God's work, not mine.

Grace reminds me that I do not have to carry everything, because God already is.

Grace is not just what covers me, Grace is what carries me.

Grit

Grit Formed

Grit lived out

Grit is not toughness or willpower. It is not pushing harder or forcing myself to endure.

Biblically, grit is mercy with endurance. It is grace continuing to work overtime.

Grit is formed when God strengthens my heart to stay faithful, not because I am strong enough, but because He is sustaining me. Scripture shows perseverance growing through testing, waiting, and obedience in seasons that are long and unresolved.

Grit is God's grace refusing to quit on the work He has begun.

It is faith staying rooted when circumstances are uncertain and outcomes are unclear.

Grit is not harsh, it is patient, it is steady, it is kind enough to remain.

"Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." James 1:3

Grit shows up quietly. It is staying when leaving would feel easier. It is continuing when motivation fades but calling remains. It is choosing faithfulness when the work feels slow or heavy.

Grit works in the middle of ordinary days, in repetition, in responsibility, in unseen faithfulness.

God uses these seasons to deepen trust and grow endurance, not to harden us, but to anchor us. Grit is not about doing more, it is about remaining present with God in what He has already placed in our hands.

Grit is not me holding everything together, it is God holding me steady.

"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

Grit lived out

Grit lived out is not pushing through minor obstacles. It is remaining faithful when obedience carries real cost.

Grit lived out looks like:

  • Standing firm in faith when a medical diagnosis changes everything.
  • Continuing to serve when the body is tired, healing is slow, and pain is present.
  • Leading and showing up when ministry is short staffed and the weight feels heavier than expected.
  • Bringing attention to what is not right instead of staying silent to keep the peace.
  • Sticking to truth when it would be easier to soften it or step back.
  • Choosing faithfulness even with strength feels limited and the road feels long.

Grit is staying anchored when circumstances shake what feels secure.

It is trusting God deeply enough to remain obedient in both endurance and honesty.

Grace is everything, Grit is grace refusing to quit.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him." James 1:12

So why Both?

Grace is the gift. Grit is the faithful endurance that grace makes possible. One reminds me I do not have to carry everything. The other reminds me not to lay down what God has asked me to carry.  Grace keeps me from believing it all depends on me. Grit keeps me from walking away just because obedience gets hard. Neither is about proving how strong I am. Both point me back to the One who is!
